My favorite moment of that film.

Some random girl who observed my speaking mannerisms, the way I use my whole body to tell a story, suggested that I do a silent film someday. And maybe she just wanted me to shut the hell up, but honestly, the idea's held a lot of appeal. Even if modern-day silent movies haven't worked out so well for Mel Brooks or Jackie Gleason (has anyone actually seen GIDOT? I long to track it down someday).

Mimedom has lost one of its most powerful voices.

(See what I did there?)

Hey, at least you didn't say "A moment of silence" or something.

The obituary on aintitcool.com was blank.

And heya, when your pile goes down a little bit, mind if I also send you by some of the revised Gilda-centric chapters for your reactions? So I can get a second opinion besides Bloo's?

Go ahead, it'll go on the pile!
I will get to them, I promise. It's just that I seem to have acquired a social life rather suddenly. That, and I'm hip-deep in a fabulous comic project. With watercolours. Terrifying, terrifying watercolours.

Yeah, I hope your life is getting somewhat less bugfuck. And I do understand how terrifying, terrifying watercolo(u)rs can be. If you mess up, you're stuck with it... FOREVER!

Actually, I kind of like it bugfuck. It's all the good kind of bugfuck these days. The only problem is that it slows me down comics-wise and reading-wise.

Yeah, oil pretends it's all badass, but it's a big pushover, really. You gotta watch out for watercolour, though. It's always the quiet ones.

Not to mention ME-wise! LAVISH!

Seriously, though, if you haven't gotten to the Two-Face stuff yet... well heck, then hold off until I send you the Gilda stuff, and you can backtrack a bit. I imagine you'll be able to keep up.

And your assessment of oil vs. watercolo(u)r amuses me greatly. I'll need to tell my artsy brother that one.

As for acrylic, it's like the most popular girl in high school: easy, brightly-coloured and mostly plastic.

I'm a quarter-French. And I hate mimes.
There. I said it.

I don't think you're alone on that count.

I'm not a fan by and large either. But I respect him as a performer, and really, I just wanted an excuse to post that scene. SILENT MOVIE was a well-intentioned and admirable effort by Brooks, but ultimately rather forgettable, save for that scene.

There are some exceptions, I happen to enjoy the Perils of Pauline for instance. And I'm currently watching the Agnes Varda's "Les Fiances du Pont Mac Donald"--

I just happen to dislike most of the genre. Though I really can't articulate as to why--
